Welcome Message from the Founder
Hello!
My name is Evelyn Chao. I am a high school student at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. I hold the Project Management Ready certification and am a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and PMI Washington, D.C. Chapter Ambassador.
Like you, I enjoy learning new things that can help me become a better person. My passion for learning project management comes from my real project experiences at home, inside and outside the school --- planning a family vacation, designing the yearbook for my school, hosting a virtual reading club for children from different countries, etc. Whether the project is big or small, I want it to succeed and bring positive changes to my communities. That motivation drove me to learn project management.
We might not know each other, but I am sure we share this big dream --- live a purposeful life to create a better world.
How will we make this dream come true? Project management knowledge and skills will give wings to our goal. Project management can empower your personal growth and leadership building, no matter who you are, how old you are, or where you come from. It is a transferrable skill and a transformative mindset that can help us reach our full potential.
Project management skill can be and needs to be learned and practiced from a younger age. That is why I created this community to explore innovative and (more) effective approaches to managing different types of projects. Whether you are a PMI-certified professional, a K-12 or college student, a veteran, or a senior, I welcome your involvement in making project management learning fun, collaborative, and inspiring.
Whatever project management knowledge you have learned, let's apply it to our daily lives to solve real-world problems for yourself or your communities. One tip is to consider how we can connect our work to the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs can help us develop global perspectives in learning project management. Lessons about project success or failures can come from any culture, region, and past period. The SDGs also inspire us to realize that there are so many types of projects we can do to make our world a better place.
We want to engage you in many ways --- virtual book talks, speaker series, reading lists, digital storytelling, and much more. No matter who you are, I invite you to collaborate on this meaningful journey.
Let's dream more, learn more, do more, and become more!
Sincerely yours,
Evelyn Chao
