Camp Details
Eligibility
Rising grades 7-12 (younger students and college students are accepted on an individual basis)
Why project management for youth?
Our lives are full of projects, no matter who we are - organizing a meeting or fundraising event for your student club, planning a concert at a senior care center, starting a book club or another business, etc. Projects drive our economy and the academic, social-emotional, and leadership development of our youth - tomorrow's project contributors and changemakers. However, project management, as a transformative mindset and a transferable skill, is not typically taught at school, at least not in a systematic way.
What is the camp?
PM Ready’s Project Management for Youth virtual summer camp is the first camp of this kind that provides a focused space to equip youth with this transferrable skill, an inclusive community to empower youth to see themselves as changemakers, and a network of mentorship and peer learning to develop future leaders.
Why this camp with PM Ready?
Unlock Potentials - Explore the exciting world of project management and learn how to turn ideas into impactful projects.
Grow Networks - Connect with industry experts and youth leaders who come from diverse backgrounds.
Stand Out Among Peers - Strengthen college or internship application by adding a Project Management certificate to your resume.
Prepare to Get Certified - Join the post-camp community to prepare for the Project Management Ready® certification.
Access Mentorship - Get motivation and guidance after the camp from a PM Ready youth mentor to work on a long-term project.
How is the camp structured?
This virtual camp will be an incredible journey where students of all backgrounds will discover the power of leadership and entrepreneurship through project management! Through a combination of asynchronous learning, synchronous meetings, and post-camp engagement, students will gain practical skills that align with their personal aspirations, academic pursuits, and future professional ambitions.
What is the camp schedule?
Before the camp starts on August 19, students will be enrolled in an online, self-paced course, "Project Management for Youth." The course includes the following topics:
Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts, Business Analysis, Traditional Project Management Methodologies, and Agile Methodologies.
During the camp week (August 19-23), students will join two-hour virtual meetings each day (7-9 PM EST), including master lectures, speaker series, and facilitated group discussion.
What is the camp cost?
$289. Each sibling can get $20 off the tuition for a registered student.
PM Ready is committed to educational equity. If the tuition will present a financial hardship to your family, we can offer some full and partial scholarships on a case-by-case basis. Please state the need in the application.
The inaugural camp is free for minority students from low-income households, military youth, and military-affiliated cadets.
Does the camp provide a tuition refund?
If the camp does not take place due to low enrollment, we will issue the full tuition refund. If students cannot attend the camp for an emergency reason, they are eligible for a tuition refund. For cancellations on and before July 26 (the last Friday of July), students can get 90% of the tuition refund. For cancellations after July 26, students can get 80% of the tuition refund.
Does the camp provide student Service Learning (SSL) hours?
Completing this camp can help you earn 8 student service-learning hours. It is the student's responsibility to check with your school to confirm their acceptance of the SSL hours.
How to apply for the camp?
Step 1: Submit an online application. One participant, one application.
Step 2: Pay the camp tuition online. The student participant name needs to match the name provided in the application.
Step 3: Paid students will receive a camp welcome letter by email. The letter includes instructions on how to enroll in the online, self-paced course and how to join the Zoom meetings from August 19 to August 23.
